Quarterly Goals

· Planning

As we come to the end of the 1st quarter of 2022, it is important to review your planner. Look over your notes that you made. Make sure everything got done, and what didn’t get done, make sure to carry it over to the 2nd quarter.

If you have gone to a business conference, go over your notes from that. Take 3 things that you would like to incorporate into your business this year. Make sure they fit with your vision, and add them into your objectives, and action plans. Don’t just go to a business conference and shelve all the information you learned.

Same goes for any books you read throughout the year, a couple of years ago my wife noticed how I had a pile of books on the end table where I sit in the living room and asked me what I was doing with them. While I read a chapter out of each book, kind of like watching a TV series, you get 30-60 minutes than wait till next week to go back. I knew that the pile of books was too much and started to become a mess, so I got a tablet and downloaded the kindle app, now I read out of there. Able to highlight and make notes. The moral of this story is when I finish the book, I go back and review what I highlighted and the notes I made and see how I can incorporate them into my business.

As I wrote about the GrowCation, I find it important to get away on a quarterly basis, even if it is just for the weekend. Some time out of the day, you need to review the past quarter and make the adjustments to the next quarter. Take some time to have fun, go to a ball game, do some antiquing, go to a beach, and read a good book. Whatever it is that you enjoy doing, take the time to refresh and re-energize yourself. Running a business is not an easy task, you need to take care of yourself as well as your business.

In your planner make sure to write down what you are grateful for, try to do it once a day, and gradually increase to 3 times a day, once in the morning, once during your lunch break, and once in the evening. Also, write down your wins for the day, at least one a day. While you are reviewing your previous quarter planner, look at all the things you were grateful for and all the wins you achieved over the last 3 months.

In past years, I found when I do not get away in between quarters, I find myself in a funk, or overloaded. Taking that break, (really even if it is for the weekend, it doesn’t need to be at a 5-star resort or on a private beach) dose help with refreshing my mind. Take a staycation, but you have to promise that you won’t go in the office or your store during this time.

If you want to get away and would like some company, let me know and I would be happy to go with you. I know the first time can be quiet, and you may walk away, wondering did I cover everything?
